Sallie Oto, Director (Los Angeles)

Born and raised in Berkeley, California, Sallie migrated south for college and graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Sociology. While at UCLA, Sallie tutored Latin and taught swimming lessons, and she worked summers as a counselor and fishing guide at UCLA's family camp Bruin Woods.

After graduating, Sallie stayed in Los Angeles and pursued her love of academics and teaching by working with students at SOURCE, a non-profit education group. At SOURCE, Sallie provided mentorship and college advising to a class of underserved 12th grade high school students.  Building on her experience advising students and families, she spent her next two years on the academic team at Kaplan Premier. At Kaplan, Sallie managed one-on-one standardized test and academic programs for hundreds of Los Angeles families and served as a standardized test consultant. 

Sallie enjoys helping students succeed by connecting them with inspiring tutors and mentors and getting to the root of what students really need to reach their potential. Sallie runs and swims when she can, and she can also be found venturing through farmers’ markets, cooking delicious food and writing.
