Yale University (BA in Theatre Studies, Cum Laude)
A Washington D.C. native, Kim attended a French school and earned her Baccalaureat in the scientific section upon graduation, specializing in mathematics. While at Yale University, Kim took numerous Math and Computer Science courses and majored Theatre Studies. Upon graduation, Kim went on to receive her Masters in Classical Acting from London's Central School of Speech and Drama, concentrating on Shakespeare in performance. Currently, Kim performs regularly in Los Angeles both on stage and on screen.
Kim began her career as a teacher and tutor during her days as an undergraduate at Yale, working specifically with middle-school and high-school aged students on standardized test-taking techniques. After moving to Los Angeles, Kim taught the ISEE and SAT for several prestigious firms, working with students from a wide range of schools and a variety of backgrounds in the Los Angeles area. She particularly enjoys calling on her performance background to keep students engaged and excited in the classroom, and to help discover the best way of conveying key information to each individual student throughout a course. Her extensive experience with the ISEE test includes training new one-on-one tutors and freelance writing several practice ISEE exams.
Whitney J.
University of Southern California (B.F.A. in Writing, Cum Laude)
Born in Memphis, Whitney moved to Massachusetts to attend Phillips Academy Andover for high school. Graduating with academic honors in English and Psychology, Whitney attended the University of Southern California as a Trustee Scholar in the School of Cinematic Arts, where she graduated Cum Laude with a B.F.A. in Writing (screen and television).
Whitney’s career as a tutor and teacher began in high school, where she provided test preparation, writing workshops, and science lab activities in the elementary school and Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence, Massachusetts. Upon moving to Los Angeles, Whitney continued to independently provide test preparation and writing consulting to local middle and high school students, and she has taught and developed ISEE curriculum for various test prep companies in Los Angeles.
From her years of experience designing and teaching ISEE curriculum, Whitney's instructional approach is based on the understanding that students achieve ISEE success when they are familiar with vital ISEE concepts, practice applying strategies to challenging problems, and develop test-day skills to minimize anxiety due to the pressures and constraints of the test-taking scenario. Her comprehensive instruction emphasizes all three facets in order to progressively boost each student's performance.
